Special Note – Just In Case
I have no way of knowing what level of experience you have as a
marketer/website owner. So, just to be sure, let’s look very quickly at
how search engines work and why you want your site to be optimized
(organized in such a way that you will be ranked higher) for these
services.
Let’s say an Internet user is looking for a website designer to build a
site for their new business. This person would go to a service like
Google.com and do a search to find a listing of companies that provide
web design.
Below is a quick shot of what a user finds when they arrive at Google.
As you can see, it’s just a simple text box where you enter a few
words (called keywords in search engine lingo) to describe what you
are looking for and then click the search button.
In this case our user is looking for a service specific to their business
and they entered website design service.
And as you can see from the shot below, a search for website design
service returns nearly three-quarters of a BILLION different listings!
The cool thing about this is you’ll see the listing at number four… that’s
me (wink wink).
